Research is a core part of Breakthrough Haematology’s approach to blood cancer care. Our specialists are actively involved in clinical trials, translational research, peer-reviewed publications and international collaborations aimed at improving outcomes for patients with lymphoma, CLL, myeloma and other blood disorders.

By combining private specialist care with active research involvement, we aim to provide treatment recommendations that are evidence-based, contemporary and informed by emerging advances in haematology.

Breakthrough Haematology is closely connected with Blood Cancer Research WA, a Western Australian charity supporting blood cancer research, clinical trials and improved access to emerging therapies. Through this connection, our practice contributes to a broader research ecosystem focused on bringing high-quality blood cancer care and clinical trial opportunities to patients in Western Australia.

Publications

For patients, research involvement means care that is closely aligned with current evidence and emerging treatment options. It may also provide opportunities to discuss clinical trials where appropriate.

Clinical trial participation is always voluntary, and many patients are best treated with established standard-of-care therapy. When a trial is suitable, our role is to explain the options clearly and help patients make informed decisions.

Breakthrough Haematology participates in a broad range of national and international clinical trials across lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), multiple myeloma and other blood disorders.

Participation in a clinical trial is always voluntary and will only be recommended when it is considered appropriate for an individual patient. Many patients receive excellent standard-of-care treatment, while others may benefit from access to promising new therapies through carefully designed research studies.
